Comments

Comments are disabled in config.php by default with the BP_POST_COMMENTS_ENABLED flag. This is due to Boilerplate wanting to ship in a semi-secure state. It is expected that comment support is explicitly enabled when setting up a Boilerplate site due to the inordinate amount of spam that typical WordPress blogs receive.

Comments ARE fully supported however, with full nesting, styled forms, and post author badge – see below image of commenting support in the dark theme:
